Iran chess player Super Grand Master after touching rating of 2700

Tehran, IRNA – An Iranian chess player, Mohammad Amin Tabatabaei, has become a Super Grand Master after scoring a live rating of 2700 in Budapest, Hungary.

Tabatabaei, 22, could achieve the rating when he won Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, an Indian chess prodigy, in competitions underway in Hungary, according to a Sunday report by the IRNA.

Earlier, Iran’s Pahram Maqsoodlou had become Super Grand Master.

According to 2700chess.com, live ratings are daily updates of the chess ratings of top players. Usually such ratings are updated within 1 minute of a game finishing, if it is played in a top tournament. Live Ratings are based on official ratings (FIDE ratings) which are updated once a month.
